Better to be safe than sorry

Having updated my 3G 16gb White iPhone with the 2.2 firmware upgrade & then losing EVERYTHING!!! because I had to try to restore because the upgrade changes the baseband & I am with TMobile. Oh man what a nightmare. Anyways how is that relevant? It reminded me that I better backup my laptop & not commit the same mistake with my files there. It took several hours to backup my 160gb HDD. Software is very easy to use, seems like it did its thing. I just hope never to have to use the restore part, but I feel safe that if I have to its all there. I just have to remember that its important to backup weekly. Plus it looks cool, feels nice & velvety smooth.

Great Drive! Partitioned for Both my Mac & PC

I purchased the WD 500GB Elite as a backup drive for my iMac. Of course, none of the bundled software applies to the Mac, but that's really no problem for me.
I partitioned the drive as a 400 GB Mac OS Extended drive and configured the remainder as FAT so that I could transfer a few files from the family PC (Vista & Linux). Works great on both computers this way. No complaints.
The drive is fast, quiet, and runs cool. I've had no problems powering the drive from the USB port built into the iMac keyboard. The case that's included is nice protection for in-office use. But, if you're going to carry the drive around, I'd get something more substantial.
Overall, for the price (Currently between $130 - 160), I highly recommend.

Back up your important items!!!!!

If you have ever lost data, pictures, or important information, you now know you must back up all your critical items. Western Digital makes an excellent product. I have purchased several, both the Passport and the My Book external drives, some for gifts. Not just quality, but the ease of set up and use. Don't lose your mp3 data! When downloading the latest version of my particular mp3 software, it crashed. Had I not been in the habit of backing up my entire "MyMusic" file, I would have spent hours replacing it all. I just went under "file", then "add folder to library" and put my entire "MyMusic" folder--saved on my Passport--back in the mp3 library.
