Miter gears consists of two identical gears that yield a 1:1 ratio. Miter gears transmit motion and power between intersecting shafts positioned at right angles. These gears are cut with a generated tooth form that has a localized lengthwise tooth bearing. These gears permit minor adjustment of gears during assembly and allow for some displacement due to deflection under operating loads without concentrating the load on the end of the tooth.
